Asbestos building survey

Asbestos Building Surveys: Essential and Necessary

During the early years of the twentieth century, newly constructed buildings, houses, hospitals, malls, schools, and business contained asbestos. The purpose of asbestos is to protect buildings from devastating fires. For example, if a mall equipped with asbestos is on fire, then the mall will stay intact and not burn to the ground. Asbestos is made from skinny gristly crystals and they are invisible. However, dangerous materials and harmful substances have been used to make asbestos. As a result, people who are exposed to asbestos for a very long time suffer from Mesothelioma. In response to the growing number of Mesothelioma cases, inspectors conduct asbestos building surveys.

Before renovating or demolishing structure, inspectors need to conduct an asbestos building survey. During an asbestos building survey, inspectors gather samples, check air quality, and bring them to the testing lab for analysis. In certain situations, bulk samples may be required to test other chemicals besides asbestos. For example, inspectors need bulk samples to test for lead paint. Each asbestos building examination includes the following information: structure name and address, owner’s structure name and address, owner’s agent name and address, certified inspectors’ names, the firm conducting the survey, the management license from the firm, and the date of the survey.

When an asbestos building survey is completed, inspectors notify the owner of the property and reveal the results. If the survey reveals positive results about the property, then harmful chemicals are present in the air or on the surface. As a result, asbestos removal is required before the process of renovation or demolition continues. However, if the study reveals inconclusive results about the property, then renovation or demolition will be halted until further notice for safety reasons. If the study reveals negative results about the property, then renovation or demolition will be unaffected.

Overall, asbestos building surveys are important to prevent more cases of Mesothelioma. In other words, many lives are being saved by asbestos building surveys. By conducting more asbestos building surveys, construction workers will be able to remove asbestos before renovating or demolishing a building. As a result, the number of Mesothelioma cases will decrease dramatically.
